Art Project of the Month...
APRIL-2021-Draw and Wine- A reflection back at the old Masters....
This project is a relaxation exercise...have a glass of wine in hand as we reflecting back in time at some of the amazing Artwork.
We will be focusing on the Impressionist. Impressionism is a 19th-century art movement characterized by relatively small, thin, yet visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities.
Don't worry this isn't going to be boring. Here is how we will make it fun.....
Impressionist Art- We will be looking at the following artist...in a nutshell....a quick summary...
His work is mostly abstract and the use of unusual viewpoints. His paintings expresses movement and pattern and is influenced by Japanese prints and photography.
Painting people and landscape of the middle-classes at play. He painted with soft, caressing, almost sensual brushstrokes- there are no trace of the darker undertones.
He wasn't interested in painting the realities of the modern life. He enjoyed painting outdoor focusing on light at different times of the day.
So pick an artist from above and create you're own version of one of the images below..Please try to keep in line with the topics below so we don't get lost. It doesn't have to be the exact image..we already have some amazing example from the group so far...
light and dark
Here are some examples which we already have from he group...Tasmeen and Brendan-Painting the outdoor...light/time of day/shadows. Chris and Jacqui- Expressing movement and pattern and Deborah and Chris- demonstrating their sensual movements of their brushstrokes.
Art Project of the Month...
MARCH 2021- Tropical Botanical Garden...
This month we will be looking at the tropical botanical plants of Kew garden's diverse collections of living plants. Why not come along and create a vibrant tropical jungle of your own using colour, light and dark leaves with a matted background or choose a delicate flower to draw in pencil... you could even use watercolour to show expressive brush strokes..
Sometimes it's only when you draw something, that we really see it, and it's true fascinating beauty.
FEBRUARY2021- A TIME TRAVELLER'S WALK
We start our Time Traveler's Walk exploring the maritime history of London and travel from one time zone to another in the blink of an eye before passing under the river Thames to capture stunning images of the modern architecture in the financial heart of London. A short tube ride will take you to the East end of London to the street art of Shoreditch and the architecture of the City of London.
The Royal Observatory
The Queens House
The Old Naval College
Shoreditch Street Art
St Paul's Cathedral
This project will give you the opportunity to either paint a traditional scene of London from one of the above places or try something different and go completely abstract with your art. Here are some examples...
This year we will be doing things a little bit different due to the current situation. Every month will be a different theme.. ill kick start January with our first project! So today I will introduce our topic and in 2 weeks (28th January) we will showcase our paintings on a group zoom meeting!
So this month is... Colour Therapy!
We will enjoy a relaxing evening exploring colour theory and creating striking landscape paintings using our colour wheel.
In this project we will only be using the colours shown on the list to recreate a local Surrey landscape using the work of Scott Naismith as a reference.
