Alison Powell
I have been doodling ever since I can remember. I developed my interest in drawing and sketching at school, and after completing a degree in Graphic Design & Illustration after A'levels, I went on to qualify as an Art Teacher.
I gave up teaching to bring up our 4 children, but in 2010, I picked up the paintbrushes again and haven't looked back since. In late 2016 I discovered Polychromos colour pencils and they fitted my style perfectly, enabling me to capture intricate details and texture in colour. I love the challenge of creating the illusion of 3D forms on a 2D surface and bringing them to life by paying close attention to fine details.
Since 2017 I have been specialising in colour pencils, providing private tuition and also working on colour pencil commissions of family portraits and pets.
I joined Tadworth Art Group to develop my style further, experiment with incorporating other mediums into my work and explore a wider range of subjects, as well as the opportunity to showcase my art work.
I feel incredibly blessed that I'm able to do what I love for a living and it makes me genuinely happy that I can pass that joy on to people through the work that I create.
